Insuring yourself to the “Bones”

If you break a leg, you may or may not be covered under a disability insurance plan. However, you will only qualify for your disability insurance benefit if you are unable to work. You also cannot make a claim on most critical illness insurance plans, as broken bones are not considered an illness.

But did you know that there are some critical illness insurance plans where you can add an accidental fracture rider to your policy. This accidental fracture rider insures your bones. If you break a leg (as an example), you can receive a tax-free lump sum benefit over and above your critical illness benefit. If you would like to know more about insuring your bones, please let us know and we would be happy to help.
